1943 Nazi Rome: Matilde, Cencio, Fulvio and Mario are members of a circus family where they work as “freaks”. Israel, the circus owner, disappears while looking for an escape route for everybody across the sea. Without someone to take care for them and without the circus, the four friends feel lost in the war-torn city, not knowing what to do.
