story
Little Frida spends her days at a Mexican market, carefreely wandering among the stalls, befriending a street dog and cheering up her classmates. But when doctors diagnose her with polio, a dark cloud falls over her vibrant world. Forced to remain confined to the four walls of her room, she gradually finds solace in her rich homeland. When her body finally strengthens, it is this inner world of homeland and perseverance that guides her through the trials of life to come.

“Visually, this exploratory journey was also essential to the project. We photographed and filmed thousands of references to enrich the visual universe of the film. Some things are hard to anticipate, and it’s only by experiencing them that they reveal themselves. We spent a lot
of time in Coyoacán and the Casa Azul, in particular, to represent them as accurately as possible in the film.” - Karine Vézina
