The American South two years before the Civil War. German-born “dentist” and bounty hunter Dr. Schultz is tracking down the murderous Brittle brothers, but the slave Django is the only one who can lead him to his bounty. Schultz buys the slave, but promises Django to free him upon the capture of the Brittles. After their successful mission, Django unchained decides to become Schultz's partner in the hopes of eventually finding his beloved Broomhilda, the wife he lost to the slave trade a long time before. In 1991, on the outskirts of Tenja, Josip Reihl Kir – the chief of the Osijek Police Department, a man dedicated to negotiations and avoiding war – was assassinated. Peacemaker is a story about the last few months of his life, in the dawn of the bloodthirsty Croatian-Serbian war, which Kir had been trying hard to prevent, told through the statements of a few witnesses and archive materials from the era. Many elements of that assassination still remain unclear.
