The protagonist, Pablo "El Galgo" Correa, is a disgraced former enforcer trying to survive in a territory ruled by gangsters and corrupt cops. Desperate for cash and determined to reunite with his daughter, Pablo reluctantly accepts what appears to be a straightforward job: firing shots at the façade of a local business as a gangland warning. During the hit, he discovers that his real target is "La Madrina", the local cartel boss. He quickly realises he has been set up as a scapegoat to ignite a full-scale gang war. With La Madrina's henchmen on his trail, Pablo must stay one step ahead of heavily armed pursuers while uncovering who orchestrated his betrayal.
“Without the one-shot narrative, this wouldn’t have been the same movie. One key motivation behind this choice was the concept of real-time action – the feeling of something unfolding right in front of your eyes, second by second. That idea had fascinated me for years, and I spent a lot of time studying it and preparing to explore it to the fullest in Gunman.” (Cris Tapia Marchiori)
