IMDb

Hoping to escape an abusive household, Lidia enrols in a Texas college on a swimming scholarship with an eye towards the Olympics. Her hopes of a swimming career are dashed when she loses her scholarship due to alcohol and drug use. She later enrols at the University of Oregon and is one of the few students selected to work with the illustrious writer Ken Kesey on his collaborative novel. Lidia finds her voice through the written word, starting a new life and ultimately becoming a singular modern writer.

"The book is not about the things that happened to her, but about how she processes those things, and about how art can save you. It’s a faithful adaptation, but it is not the same experience. The movie had to have a life in order for it to have its own memory. It couldn’t be exacting, controlled. My hands and my fingerprints are all over it, but I’m not strangling the movie, because the movie had such volition, it had such its own life, that it was telling me what it wanted every day." Igor Bezinović

Tuesday, 18. 11. 2025 / 20:15 / Small Hall

On 12 September 1919, a troop of some three hundred soldiers under the leadership of the flamboyant war-loving Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio swooped into the Northern-Adriatic port town of Fiume, now Rijeka, wanting to annex the city to Italy. Over the course of the next 16 months, during what is regarded as one of the most bizarre militant sieges of all time his official photography team captured over 10,000 images. A century later, Igor Bezinović orchestrates a direct-action history lesson focused on the siege and its modern-day implications.
