"Someone said that the genre of this film is 'fantastic documentary'. From the perspective of today's Bosnia, a completely impoverished country, the movie Blum really does seem like science fiction. Young people have never heard of him or of socialism that works out, and people still wonder how all that was possible. But we checked all the facts. We focused especially on finding the negative aspects of the story. We didn't want the film to resemble propaganda. But all of that really did work, and Energoinvest made huge profits. It bid against the German Siemens and American companies in tenders and won... The company invested its profits in the workers. All of this is interesting when compared to today’s world. Emerik Blum’s salary was four times higher than that of a receptionist. Today, CEO’s are paid thousands of times more than an average worker." (Jasmila Žbanić, MMC)

On 12 September 1919, a troop of some three hundred soldiers under the leadership of the flamboyant war-loving Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio swooped into the Northern-Adriatic port town of Fiume, now Rijeka, wanting to annex the city to Italy. Over the course of the next 16 months, during what is regarded as one of the most bizarre militant sieges of all time his official photography team captured over 10,000 images. A century later, Igor Bezinović orchestrates a direct-action history lesson focused on the siege and its modern-day implications.
