Thelma, a shy young woman from a strict and deeply religious family in the Norwegian countryside, has recently arrived in Oslo to study at university. As the semester continues, Thelma emphatically suppresses her increasingly overwhelming desire for Anja. Meanwhile, her seizures begin to intensify and she must begin to face up to the dark truth about her past.
