Hate La Haine

Mathieu Kassovitz / France / 1995 / 98 min

24 hours in the lives of three young men in the French suburbs the day after a violent riot.

The morning is only seemingly ordinary. The projects have woken up to a growing tension between the enraged youth and the police. Three friends – Vinz, Saïd and Hubert – are facing the most important day in their lives. Actually, it is not just the three of them! The fourth member of their company is Krom Smith & Wesson 44, a policeman’s loaded gun that ended up in Vinz’s hands. The clock is constantly ticking. Is 24 hours enough to resolve hate? Hate is an explosive mixture of a critique of racial violence and social inequality and humorous sparks in the middle of an urban jungle.

Fiume o morte! Fiume o morte!

Igor Bezinović

Thursday, 15. 01. 2026 / 19:15 / Small Hall

On 12 September 1919, a troop of some three hundred soldiers under the leadership of the flamboyant war-loving Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio swooped into the Northern-Adriatic port town of Fiume, now Rijeka, wanting to annex the city to Italy. Over the course of the next 16 months, during what is regarded as one of the most bizarre militant sieges of all time his official photography team captured over 10,000 images. A century later, Igor Bezinović orchestrates a direct-action history lesson focused on the siege and its modern-day implications.
