IMDb

Ruben Brandt is an acknowledged psychotherapist haunted by daily horrific nightmares in which he is tormented by Botticelli’s Venus, Warhol’s Double Elvis, the protagonists from Hopper’s Nighthawks and other characters from famous artworks. He can get rid of his demons only by appropriating the artworks. He is helped by four of his patients who are no strangers to crime. They soon become the most wanted criminals and a staggering reward is offered for their apprehension. On the road full of action, exceptional animation, film noir overtones and many hidden references to pop culture and art history, detective Mike Kowalski also enters the story. Following the collector’s trail, he discovers many a thing.

Concerning my drawings in this film, I do hope that people will find them peculiar and imaginative. Building up on Godard, who said that photography is truth and the cinema is truth twenty-four times per second, I would say that for me drawing is imagination and animated film is imagination twenty-four times per second.”
