Inspired by Danny Lyon's 1968 photographic study of Chicago bikers, Jeff Nichols' film is a portrait of the testosterone-fuelled, macho, gas-guzzling, leather-clad subculture of the American Midwest, but also a universal story about the search for identity and belonging.
