Born in 1927, Jacques Mayol was the first diver to descend 100 meters on one breath. An athlete, philosopher and adventurer, he travelled the world to raise awareness of our important connection to the sea. Narrated by Jean-Marc Barr, who earned his first leading role playing Jacques Mayol in The Big Blue, the film takes us to the US, Japan, Italy, France, Greece and the Bahamas to meet Mayol's friends, family and fellow divers. Informed by rare archival footage, interviews and astonishing underwater footage, director Lefteris Charitos paints a portrait of a man who pushed the limits of his body to connect with nature.

Over the course of the next 16 months, during what is regarded as one of the most bizarre militant sieges of all time his official photography team captured over 10,000 images.
