Born in Flames Born in Flames

Lizzie Borden / USA / 1983 / 80 min / English

This formally and politically radical futuristic fantasy about a women's uprising, shot guerrilla-style for $200 on the streets of pre-gentrification New York, is a classic and a milestone of 1980s American feminist and underground cinema. Lizzie Borden created the film in dialogue with its performers (including Kathryn Bigelow), who play fictional versions of themselves.
