Searching for a new home, Mik embarks on an exciting adventure, learns everything about whales, experiences first love and takes flight on the Ice Dragon with his new-found friends.

Eleven-year-old Mik is obsessed with the sounds of the whales, animals that live in a tight-knit community. He likes drums and rock music, similarly to his virtually absent and alcoholic father, drummer for the Mutherfuckers. Mik carries a heavy burden on his shoulders; he has to do housework all by himself. One day the social services decide that Mik has to be taken from his dysfunctional family. He is dispatched to his aunt Lena in Sweden’s snow-covered north country. It takes a while for him to adjust and he misses his brother Tony, with whom he used to watch zombie movies. He slowly makes friends with a group of children, spearheaded by fearless and assertive Pi. They build a snowmobile, and call it The Ice Dragon. When the social services send Mik to a wicked foster family, the circle of friends flees on The Ice Dragon.

“It’s after seeing films like this that I realise just how well-made kids films can really be. /.../ Kids are people too, and they deserve cool movies just like the rest of us! Luckily films like this do exist to counter-act all those polished Disney “gems” and can-we-please-take-a-little-break-now hyperactive CGI animations.”
